Deciding whether to build it or buy it
A company needs a system it doesn't have. It's holding two vendor quotes that differ by several times, an internal proposal to build it in-house, and no reliable way to judge any of them. The people who understand the business best can't assess the technical claims; the people quoting have an interest in the answer.
The engagement: an independent read on what the process genuinely requires versus what's being assumed, what off-the-shelf products already cover, and what building actually costs once maintenance, hosting, and the person who'll own it in two years are counted. Where a quote is high, we say why. Where it's low because something necessary has been left out, we say that too — that's the more expensive mistake.
What changes: a decision made on the real numbers, with the reasoning written down. Often the honest answer is to buy the product and spend the budget elsewhere.
