If you create a chatbot
Google sign-in
You sign up and sign in with Google. We receive your Google account's email address. We use it for one thing: to know which chatbot workspace belongs to you, so you can get back into your dashboard. We don't use it for marketing, we don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't share it.
The website or social page you submit
When you paste a URL or a social handle, we fetch that page — only pages that are already public — and extract the visible text. We split it into short passages and store them, along with a numeric representation of each passage that's used for search, so your assistant can answer questions from your own content. We re-fetch when you press "re-sync". If you type answers into the dashboard quick-start instead, we store that text the same way.
We also take your business name, logo, a one-line description, and any contact details or links we can find — or that you enter in the dashboard — and use them on your chat page and in the assistant's answers.
If you talk to a chatbot
This applies whether you use a hosted chat.1x0.ai page or a widget embedded on a business's own site.
Your conversation
Your messages and the assistant's replies are stored and shown to the business that owns the chatbot, in their dashboard — including questions the assistant couldn't answer. This is a deliberate feature: it's how the business sees what its customers are asking. Treat a chat like an email to that business, not a private note.
AI processing
To generate each reply, your message — together with the relevant passages from the business's content and its contact details and links — is sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Google, via the Gemini API). We do not send your IP address or any identifier to the provider. The provider processes this under its own API terms.
Rate limiting
Your browser generates a random session identifier and keeps it in the browser's local storage. We store that identifier and your IP address, and use them only to enforce message limits and to detect and block abuse. The session identifier is not a tracking cookie, is not shared, and is not linked to your identity.
Where data is stored
Everything above is stored on Google Cloud Platform — Firestore and Cloud Storage — in the United States. Access is limited to the people who operate 1x0.ai.
What we don't do
- We don't sell personal data.
- We don't use any of this for advertising or ad targeting.
- We don't share it with anyone except the AI provider described above (to generate answers) and Google Cloud (as our hosting provider).
Cookies and local storage
The chat widget and hosted chat pages store a single session identifier in your browser's local storage, for message limiting. That's the only thing they store on your device — no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no cross-site identifiers.
The rest of the 1x0.ai website uses Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to measure traffic. You can block those with any standard analytics or cookie blocker; the site works the same without them.
Deleting your data
- Chatbot owners: email swinden@gmail.com from the Google address you signed up with, and we'll delete your workspace — the stored content, every conversation, and your ownership record — within 30 days.
- Visitors: a conversation belongs to the business you talked to. Ask them to remove it, or email us and we'll remove what we can identify from your session.
Changes
